Q1: Is the cherry an almost black color or a lighter cherry color?

A: It is a light cherry, please refer to the alternate images of the item.

Q2: What fabric is the lining made of?

A: Felt.

Q3: Can this be recessed into the wall and appear flat when it actually has depth, or does it just hang directly on the wall and extend out from the wall 4 inches or so?

A: Technically the answer is yes you can mount it in 4 inches deep. However, the door (which is the last ¾ of an inch) is beveled. This means that it even though they have mounted it at the depth of the item, it will not be flush because the corners rise at an angle. My suggestion would be to mount it 3.25 inches into the wall with the door being outside of the wall. This would give the impression of a real mirror but mask the fact that it is a jewelry armoire.

Q4: What does recessed mean?

A: Recessed means the customer will literally have to cut a hole in the wall to install the product. The customer will need to check the depth of wall cavities. Also, a stud finder will need to be used to ensure the opening is between studs. Professional help may be necessary.

Q5: What are the specific dimensions of each area inside?

A:

•  On the door the ring storage area is 7.5W x 8H inches and contains 9 slots for ring storage.
• On the door there are three bars with twelve slots each for earring storage with 2.5 inches in between the bars to give you room for long earrings. 
• On the door there are two rows of 5 hooks each with 1.75 inches in between each hook and 10.75 inches of space in between the two rows and 10.75 inches of space in between the bottom row of hooks and the bottom of the door. 
• Inside the cabinet there is one row of 5 hooks with 1.75 inches of space in between the hooks. 
• Inside the cabinet below the row of 5 hooks are two rows of smaller staggered hooks with 11 hooks in each row.  These hooks are spaced 1 inch apart.  There are 12.5 inches of space between the first and second rows of hooks, 13.75 inches of space between the second and third rows of hooks, and 12.5 inches of space between the third row of hooks and the removable valet that sits in the bottom of the armoire, and 13.75 inches of space from the third row of hooks all the way to the bottom of the armoire.
• The removable valet fits perfectly in the bottom of the armoire and is split into four equal-sized areas.  Each area is 2.5W x 1.5D inches.
• The inside of the armoire is 2 7/8 inches deep.
